Several reputable websites are reporting today that the decision has already been made to induct Paul Bearer into the 2014 WWE Hall of Fame. Sources are saying that WWE has contacted the family and are now trying to decide who should do the induction.
Having The Undertaker do the induction speech would make the most sense and would have the most emotional impact, but it has always been Taker’s style to skip the Hall of Fame ceremony. He hasn’t wanted to break character and mingle with “normal” people. But if anything can convince him to go ahead and break character, it would be this!
The other name being considered is “Freebird” Michael Hayes. Hayes worked with William “Paul Bearer” Moody as far back as the late 70s when Moody was known as Percy Pringle (Percival Pringle III to be exact). They worked together a great deal in World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) and eventually both made their way into the WWE. Hayes would be a good choice, but he would be a second choice (at least in my opinion).
No matter who gives the induction speech, Paul Bearer certainly does deserve the honor. It’s too bad that it couldn’t have been done before his death, but you can’t really plan on things like that. Kudos to WWE for making the decision in the first place.
Keep in mind that this is still just a rumor. The only reason I am reporting it here is because I have read it on several websites that I consider to be reliable and reputable.
