Colt Cabana and Adam Pearce finished up the final match in their ‘7 Levels of Hate’ series. Colt Cabana won the match, but in an odd turn of events the NWA Board of Directors had issued a decision before the match that it would not sanction it as a title match.
As you will see in this video Pearce vacates the title, wanting nothing more to do with the NWA. Cabana rejected the title too, stating that the NWA was stuck in the past and not smart enough to go forward into the future with someone like him. Cabana and Pearce worked really hard this year to elevate the NWA Title and bring back some of it’s lost glory. It’s a shame that the NWA pulled the rug out from under them right before the final match, but honestly I don’t think the NWA will ever be a major player in pro wrestling like it was 30 years ago.
It will be interesting to see where the NWA goes from here. If 2 high profile guys like Pearce and Cabana can’t bring it back to life I don’t see much hope for them. I hope they prove me wrong but I just don’t see it happening. Maybe today is the day the NWA finally dies?
